Cancer by Type — Detection and Prevention
Different cancers have distinct biological mechanisms, risk profiles, screening pathways, and early warning indicators. A generalised awareness of cancer is valuable — but understanding the specific characteristics of the cancers most likely to affect you or those around you enables earlier, more targeted action.
This course covers 10 cancer types in dedicated modules, with each module addressing the nature of the cancer, its known risk factors, the available screening and early detection methods, and the evidence-based approaches to prevention.
The course includes detailed coverage of skin cancer — a particular priority for the Australian context, where melanoma rates are among the highest in the world — along with bowel, breast, prostate, cervical, lung, liver, and oral cancers. Modules are designed to be completed independently, allowing you to navigate directly to the cancer types most relevant to your personal or family health context.
